Blog for my little silly paintings of fat square cats. When they have found a spot they tend to give luck and love to their new owner.

Shifty Pussy
Ay Ay, a shifted cat. Don't know where the inspiration came from. Is it a synapse blockade giving strange visuals, is it a magic trick of an illusionist went wrong. What a color. I found the blue tone in a local artists shop. I wasn't sure what to think about it, but it actually looks great. It looks surreal. I'm shifted, like Shifty Disco!
The Shifty Disco EP certainly inspired me to make this cat and visualize the title in some way.

Holy Fire
"holy Fire Cat", Acryl on canvas 10 x 10 cm, 2012.
I made a video how I make my paintings. Somehow I had a pretty long fight with iMovie this time, but after starting over 3 times, it worked again. I'm not sure what I did wrong. The painting was inspired by Stewart M. who is a Fireman and author of Positive Paradise. I have thought this painting out in Barcelona. Not included in the video is the painting of the fire hose on the side. I had already turned off the timer. Instead of photo's, a video this time.
The Japanese characters 防火用 mean "Bouka-you", which translated mean: "For Fire Protection" (first two characters mean: "Fire Proctection", the other one means "Use as" or "Use for"). Big thanks to Debrah for figuring this out for me.

Velvet Pussy
Behold, The Velvet Pussy!
The initial inspiration was found from my beer tear-off calendar that I got from good friends. Free translated it says: "The Irish and English mix their beers with all kinds of drinks and give it curious names. Red Witch is, by example, Guinness with Pernod, cider and berry juice. Velvet Pussy is Guinness with Port and Black Velvet is Guinness with Champagne. For the English, a Mother in Law, is an old with a bitter."
Only the name, Velvet Pussy. I had to paint it, but first i had to taste it...
Frankly, give me my Guinness (Draught) just pure...just like my port. Personally I din't think the Velvet Pussy tasted that good.
The velvet and port. It reminded me of the Patta x Parra Nike Air max 1 sneakers.

Hup, hup, hup....
Look at this. Barbapapa just transformed into a cat? No, it's not Bannakaffalatta, it,s Barbacatta.
In original language (French), Barbapapa speaks the magic words "Hup, hup, hup, barbatruc". In Dutch it's "Huub, huub, huub, Barbatruc". In english it is "Clickety Tick, Barba trick". My favorite Barbapapa? It's of course Barbabuille.

Improving Cheetahs
It's again a cheetah. I think I can't hide that I like this color combo. I want to make look better every time I make one. Of course the spot pattern is unique to every cheetah. I like the background to. It reminded me to a storm on Jupiter, hence the title of this painting. It also looks a bit like raspberry syrup in yoghurt. Yummy!

Faraday
It's my second scientist cat, dedicated to Daniel Faraday. This silver cat looks covered by a copper cage of Faraday. The ultimate protection, as you can see in a question of the Dutch National Science Quiz of 2011.
After the intro, the big show starts at 1'35". Note how this guy walks into Faraday's cage in a Faraday's suit. "Faraday", Acryl on canvas, 10 x 10 cm, 2012

Flower Power.
Sweet smelling cat does find a little lilly from the valley. Never underestimate the power of a black belt flower.

We are all ear
Alright, I was a little joking with the title. This cat is called Vincent. He's pretty artistic. Had a fight with another cat. That's how he lost his ear.
The bridge is inspired by this painting of Vincent van Gogh. This bridge is near Arles and is officially called "Pont de Réginelle, but was locally known as "Pont de Langlois", named after the bridge keeper. In 1999 I have visited this bridge, while I was camping with Eva near Montpellier.
