A Rayo Cat

My little nephew Rayo also draws cats. Although completely different from what I do, he has also an unique style. I recently got a drawing from him. I thought it would be nice to make a special cat for him in return. The color scheme is based upon the drawing of a cat, found on my sister in law's toilet wall. I couldn't resist to take a photo. This is the actual print I used for painting a cat for Rayo.

The Cat I got from Rayo. It's a little different and has some other colors. A two tone head would be nice too, but that's quite difficult on a 10 x 10 cm canvas.

Rayo's cat transformed in my style cat. As he has a simple name, it was also simple to translate into Katakana and put on the flank of the Rayo cat. ラヨ.

Static...

You don't see this often anymore with digital television and other modern technics. But there was a time we sat around the television, where we could find only 3 stations, 2 Dutch and the Belgian station. We lived in an unfinished suburb and there was no central antenna. We had to move a big antenna inside our house to catch the signal. Those were the days of the "Six Million Dollar Man", "Charlie's Angels" and "Space 1999".

So I broke my rules a bit. This cat is not perfect rectangular, but rounded, like a cartoon television.

Outside the Box

I had just an random idea to play with dividing a square in sections. With this kind of divisions, a cat can't be fixed in a box, isn't it. So I have to think outside the box. And who is thought a lot? It must be Rodin.

Star Chasin'

A girl asked me if it was possible to make a cat with a star system theme. So I asked here what she had in mind. She showed me her medallion. I couldn't promise that I could make one, but I at least could try.

So, what do you think. Actually a lot of people wanted to have this silly cat painting.

Deep, Deep in the Jungle...

I must make more of these jungle tigers. This one is named after one of my latest favorite songs by Faberyayo and Tom Trago.

Nurse!

I've served as a laborant in the 121 M.A.S.H. in the early 90's. That's why I made this army style Lucky Cat with the number on it.

A Cat that sweat Pocari

I think this must be one of the strangest product names I have ever heard of. Pocari Sweat. It is well known in Japan and East Asia, but completely unknown to the other parts of the world. When I was in Toky, a group of girls passed me at the station, all wearing their sports clothing. The team was sponsored by Pocary Sweat Ion supply Drink.  All I wondered was, "What is a Pocari and why do you drink it's sweat?". Well, you can read my 50 Gs article about my Pocari Sweat G-Shock and some backrounds here

I used the text from the official Pacari Sweat website of Thailand.

Samba Catta.

A little bit inspired by the Volkswagen Samba Bus Lowrider. It's not the color scheme, but the Low Rider look. This cat is so fat, only the his little toes stick under his belly. Hence the Samba cat. The cat is painted in Signal Orange with a little Signal Green striping. Very minimal design.
