Wet on Wet

This must have been the first, or one of the first 10 x 10 cm cats I made. Both the background as the cat are made with quite  surplus of paint. Camouflage inspired on Nigo's Bugatti Veyron.
Although it is an attempt to make a camouflage pattern, it reminds me now more to strawbery/vanilla ice cream.

Knock on Wood.

I had plans to make "Holy Cat" icons from wood. Two colleagues were pretty enthusiast and were willing to help me. One colleague handed me over a little beechwood plank. The other colleague assisted me in cutting the plank into square pieces. It was possible to make 5 panels of approximately 10 x 10 cm (one is actually 9 x 9 cm).
A little rubbing with sand paper to smoothen the edges and a little hole on the back, so it can be hung on a nail on the wall.
Now there is now way back...

Da Bomb!

"I didn't bomb that wall!"... Well, you are at least an eye witness, You've got yellow spray paint all over your blue fur. "But I don't even have fingers"... "Bomb da Katt" has been derived obviously from Tim Simenon's Bomb da Bass. "Beat Diss!"

Candy, candy!

A toitle? A tiger? Nope, something different. It's a polkadot pussy in candy pinkish cherry red. Would this cat not do well on a lolly pop? What's he trying to tell you. "I'm good"? "I'm sweet?".

Night puss.

More than a year this cat is watching the family from the fireplace. Peacefully in almost metallic blue. See him shine in the full moon night.

Icon Pussy

Last time I was in Antwerp, I visited the cathedral. In the shop I saw a beautiful icon. I still regret I did not buy it, because it was not really expensive. I think there might be a series of new Holy Cats in the future, but then painted on wood, if I get the chance to get the right materials.
I'm so happy I bought the gold and silver paints. The blue cat in real contrasts very strong to the brilliant red.
"Yes, I'm a Holy Puss"
"Holy"
Real icons have no title and are not signed. I cannot live without my sign and year on a painting. I went for a compromise. It is signed on the back (on advice of Eva).

Yellow Toitle

Bram requested me to paint a yellow cat. "A yellow cat?". -"Yes, with a purple background, so you get a good contrast". Well if a 11 year old boy can come up with these words, I should try to paint it. Well, here is the result. Bram was a little disappointed. He rather would have had a straight yellow cat with no structures. I told him that would have been a very dull cat and he agreed. I like the background It's like a storm on an icy planet.

Spot on

Another graffiti cat. Hey it wasn't me. That used spray can is just circumstantial evidence.
There are many layers of translucent candy pink to create this cat. The tiger stripes are made with glossy red. It's very hard to catch this cat on photo, as the contrasts are very big.
Good thing I have silver paint. Bad thing, I have a macro lens. Optical it looked like a perfect spray can with spray cap. With such a close-up, the cap doesn't seem perfect anymore :-)

Lorenz

I found this tube of copper paint in my local shop for artwork stuff. A nice occasion to check it out on a cat. Meet Lorentz. It's like the copper stripes are like a coil around his big silver body. Well, I don't have to explain his name isn't it. He's named after the famous Dutch Physician Hendrik Lorentz.
The force of Lorentz. Can you feel it!

Another Cheetah!

I think there must be more cheetahs. I love themI need to work on the base color. This one is nice, but it would have been better if I made the purple tone a little lighter. I love the background. It looks like home made cherry ice cream.
